Seems like an awesome monitor, personally I think I'll wait until it includes LED backlighting...

Is 102% color gamut equivalent to the HC tag?

How long does it normally take for US models to come out over here?

Well, I guess the question is: have they sorted the ghosting issue out? If so, we may be on to a winner. It'd be a shame if all they did was add a load more inputs to the 2407. Odd they didn't go for the same styling as the 2208 or 3008.

Price in the US is $748 (£384 @ £1 =$1.95). I think we can confidently expect it to be north of £450 when it comes out over here

It will be released in March 2008 over here.

I'm not sure if the inverse/overshoot ghosting will be fixed.
The new 1300-1 contrast seems to indicate a newer version S-PVA panel.
How this effects the overdrive overshoot problems remains to be seen.
Dell have said that this artifact is a side effect of lowering the panel response time.
Since most users don't notice any problems, they would be reluctant to raise the response time as this would effect advertised specs.
Since most people buy from specs alone, this is understandable.

If the 2408WFP does suffer, they may have tamed the overshoot ghosting with careful settings, or may even offer a menu adjustable option.

Forums like this can be dangerous, as quite a few people on the US forums only spotted the problem AFTER reading about it!

I suspect the 2408WFP will have a price premium like any new model.
But i would imagine the overall trend of lower pirices will see this drop quite quickly.

I held off buying my 2407WFP-HC for a few hours this morning.
I wanted to see what effect the 2408WFP would have on the 2407WFP-HC.
I decided the only feature that would really appeal to me was the higher contrast.
I also reasoned that as with each new model, also comes new bugs.
I had the overshoot problem on a model from many years a go.
It was far worse than the 2407WFP-HC, and it just didn't bother me.

I will be interested in reading the reviews as they come out...

I don't think the stylng looks that bad compared to the 3008, it's certainly no deal-breaker. I'm looking forward to some reviews too, it can't be too long now...

Just been told that it's S-IPS, and delivery end of Feb/beginning of March.

Although from a reliable source, i cannot verify the above info but hope it is true. :)

If true, this should eradicate the inverse ghosting.

Just wondering what else will get cocked up though! :D

Who will be first to start a "Fault with my Dell 2408WFP" thread???:smashin:

    Looking more likely S-IPS.
There are two LG-Philips S-IPS panels coming out in 24" and 26" with the exact same specs as the Dell 2408WFP. :)

Good to hear that it is S-IPS, especially for gamers. I'm more interested into the cost at launch.

Quite pricey once you factor in VAT - the delivered price is £562.83!

Way out of my price range right now - here's hoping the price comes down to more reasonable levels soonish.

That's a shame, looks like just an update to the 2407-HC then.
It has more connection ports, but might still be effected by the 2407-HC issues.

I've decided to await "user" reports before going anywhere near this.
    I think a 2408-HC rev A004 should just about get it right!!!

Will be worth waiting to see if anybody else comes out with a 22/24 inch S-IPS screen.:)

The price for the PCBuyIt certainly looks like an excellent deal at the moment anyway. I'm looking at upgrading my Viewsonic VX922 19 inch monitor which has only a max resolution of 1280x1024, and I think anything bigger than a 24 inch would be too big for my computer desk (it's in my lounge!) so I have my eye on this new model from Dell.

Lets hope in 2-3 months time it will drop to about £350-ish, which is more my budget. Is this realistic???

    Hello,

I have a question for you. Does anyone know how this forum offer at PCBuyIt works? What are the requirements to be able to use this offer?

    Thank you for any information,

    Wojtek

Not sure I'll plump for this straight away, ideally I wanted an S-IPS 24" - roll on more reviews......back light bleed on that review (allbeit slight).

Looks like my 2007wfp is safe - for now.

Already got my pre-order in, I was feeling brave! I'll put some pics up etc when I get it, although I'm sure the date on pcbuyit will slip.
