Deh-p77mp Frmt Read Error

Right just a quick question on the off-chance that someone can help me...

I've had this in the car for about a year now and its brilliant, but I had a problem last night that I've never noticed before. Now, until now I've only ever really played .wma discs in it, but yesterday I got leant a disc from a friend which was full of mp3 tracks. When I whacked it in it flashed up 'format read', as it always does when you insert a CD disc... but then nothing, no error message or anything like that, it just doesn't do anything. Now I know it should be able to play mp3 files, it says it on the front of the unit to reinforce this... so if anyone has any ideas as to why it won't play them it would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

Ask your friend if he finalised the disc after burning it or left it open to add more tracks? Is the disc dirty? does it play on other equipment of yours? Cant think of anything else.

Far to many issues to consider, anyway lets start with...

1) ensure disk is clean
2) ensure its "finalised" ( no further adding to disk)
3) ensure not re-writeable
4) Is the laser clean?
5) Have you tried playing the disk on another mp3 player

Used a new disk, was clean

2) ensure its "finalised" ( no further adding to disk)

It was finalised, using Nero

3) ensure not re-writeable

Not re-writeable

4) Is the laser clean?

Definetly cleaned

5) Have you tried playing the disk on another mp3 player

Sounds like your laser pickup could be dirty. Try using a lens cleaner.

Its either the pick up or the cd is not playable on the unit.
Possible non compatability of the disk (make)
