Defragging a HD5 - is it safe?

Righty... basically I use my HD5 as a portable storage device as well as a music player, and there's a lot of copying and pasting and deleting of large (600mb) files to it.

Basically, I want to know whether it is safe to defragment it. I was planning on using either PerfectDisk or DiskKeeper to defragment, but is it sensitive to having system files moved around on the disk? I obviously still want to use it as a music player, but don't want it grinding to a halt because it is fragmented.

Are the important system files read only, or what?

Any help is appreciated...

It's perfectly safe to defragment your NW-HD5.
I've defragmented my NW-HD1 a number of times with no troubles occuring.
