Going back as far as I can remember I have always adored the Definitive Technology range. I used to read about them in American Home Theatre mags and dream that one day, I would have them. They were only available by importing them in those days which made them feel very far out of my reach but I loved just dreaming about them.

Still to this day I have a thing for them. And now they are far more accessible than they used to be. Does my life long AV dream seem closer. Maybe a little :D

    This is their latest range:

I used to sell them in the 90's. I think @Seriously Ltd can or does carry them.

They're pretty good, wouldn't swap them for what I have now and I've heard a lot of stuff. The model S or the big IW's from Steinway Lyngdorf are the only things so far that are notably better in every way.

    You just love buying stuff.

I think i've been pretty good. Same screen for 4yrs, Sub is a little older and my 1997 def tech BP1's (to stay on subject) were swapped for MKS300T at the rear - think I've been fairly well behaved with a pre meditated strategy. This is my 3rd revision of home cinema, not counting the one from back in the day which was Yamaha and B&W so 4 total in 24 yrs.

@nucky would knock that out in 4 weeks.

Those BP1’s were always on my dream radar as well. I guess these would be the next alternative. Which look blummin awesome might I add.

They're $500 a pair. I really don't know if they are still as ahead of the game as they used to be.. probably not. I always thought they had interesting designs and approaches, their build quality these days looks a little thin.

And they're not the size of a small village like your Arendal surrounds. Looking at what may be Ken Kreisel's new speakers (if they ever get mass produced) the reverse driver thing, while clever is going to put people who don't know who he is off on aesthetics alone.

    Hi Dodge,

Yes we supply Definitive Technology. We can also arrange a dem

    I used to personally run BP3000’s L&R,
CLR3000, BP8’s as rears and BPX sides surrounds finished with a pair of stacked MK V125 subs. It is as a stunning system. 18” in built subs and an inbuilt 10” sub in the CLR 3000 centre.

And a combo that you'd like to listen to, given the opportunity. And I don't blame you tbh.

I don't know what it is, maybe I need to search myself more, but I have a proper thing for these. Maybe it goes back to the early days 'ish' of my AV journey, I don't know.

Which makes it a case for you not having or needing in any shape or form, those towers. unless you plan to switch off the side by side and listen to 2 channel according to early naughties rules?

These big def tech's with the subs in them would be probably good for music but a bit on the weak side for movies at a guess.

The potential was there for music, not movies. However, after extensive listening and listening again with the Monitors, it won't be happening.

The Kef ref 4's?? in here were big, went quite low and sounded well just not as well as what I have. Not a night and day difference in quality but a reasonable shift in tonality. You need an Mp50 or something of that breed, you'd be amazed at what you're missing.

Def tech should have done the floorstander with optional fake atmos rather than cut 2 inches off the cone.

I meant that the one with the 12'' sub built in comes with the height modules. Without heights it's 10''
