Hi there,

I just received a replacement Bravia 40S2010, but after an hour of viewing have noticed a strange light patch at the left of the display, where it looks like the backlight is showing through the screen.

Now, I have a question - is this a defect? And should I be asking for a replacement TV or repair? I had so much hassle dealing with Sony before that I'm exhausted at the thought of speaking to them again.

Photo attached, by the way - and all input much appreciated!

That looks like stuck pixel and its considered normal on LCDs.

I think, though I could be wrong, that it's too large to be a stuck pixel. I've measured the white patch and it's approx 5-7mm.

Yep; looks too big to be a single bad pixel. Is it present all the time?

Yes, all the time - but most noticeable on either bright backgrounds or a black screen.

Get it replaced as soon as.

You pay top money to get a top quality product so that's what you should get!!

Just spoke to Play.com (who have been consistently excellent, by the way) and they're going to pick it up and refund it, then let me choose whether to buy a new one or a different model.

I've been through two Bravias now, so am not sure whether to go for a third (surely lightning doesn't strike three times?). Any thoughts?
