I had found a nice Yamaha 6.1 receiver on ebay at a cheap price but the seller was a crook so I'm starting over again.

I was tempted by the Yamaha 5630 at RS but that only has 5.1 with a phantom sixth channel for EX encoded movies. Whilst on the RS site I noticed the Teac AG10D This has full 6.1 and is a huge reduction on the original price but is it any good?

I'm not that familiar with the Teac brand and would feel more comfortable buying a Yamaha or a Pioneer, Sony etc. Has anyone got one of these or read a review on it? It's very tempting. Has anyone seen the Pioneer 812 for less than £200 recently?

BTW my budget is £150, I may stretch it for the 812! Is the Pioneer 514 anygood?

    Thanks

    Dave

Stretch it for the 812, in my opinion it is a better amp than the Teac mentioned, it also has the bonus of a lovely blue LED on the volume knob.............ALL HAIL THE BLUE LED!

It can matrix the 6th channel to produce a 7.1 soundfield, it is a solid unit, and will be a sound buy.

Thanks kazman, I've found the 714 at £190 is it worth paying the extra to get the 812?

I think the strain of convincing your wife to let you have an SVS is getting to you .

Thanks Dfour, very tempting but my wife would kill me if I spent that much. Maybe I'll be lucky next time RS have an open box sale.
