Decision Time...

    At present I have a 36" PD30 with Sky+, Toshiba 220, Sony STRDB930 playing through a Tannoy Centre, Kef Q and Kef Cresta's. With a psb Sub.

    I may have up to a £1000 and thought the best move would be to change the reciever and DVD player but what a choice:)

    I am struggling to decide the better option. My head tells me to go for a HK25 DVD player and a whole range of recievers to choose But my heart tells me to save money as I like my STRDB930 and cant compare it in house to the others eg:

    Pioneer VSX D912?
    Sony STRDB2000-Lot cheaper
    Denon 3803 or 2803??
    Yamaha RXV1400RDS

    So much choice... and a wife saying save the cash.... In order to get away with this I need te spending of up to a grand to make a marked difference to PQ and sound:)

    Change the source first, and if you like your amp, why change that? Perhaps look at some speaker upgrades...

    Thanks for the reply Tom. I cant be sure on the DVD upgrade yet :( So much to choose)

    I would say your speakers are easilly the weakest link, especially those awful Cresta's. I had some of these and to be honest, was appalled that Kef would put their name on such a thing.

    But as they are only rears would an upgrade to those make a big difference?

    How about moving the Q's to the rear, sell the crestas and centre. Buy 3 new matching fronts.

    Kef Q5 or Q7 and Q9C.

    Take your amp to a dealer and have a listen to B & W, Monitor Audio, Mission and Kef etc.

    Somewhere near the M4 most of the time......

    upgrade to a PS DVD player, or get a DVD recorder (best waiting for new PS Panny recorders.)
    OR like suggested take your amp to a dealer and have a listen to some other kit!
