    Hi all,

Four years ago I bought my first DVD player - a Philips Matchline DVD-950 and at the time I was really pleased with it. But in the last year I've become so disillusioned with it I'm looking for a replacement. Its mechanics leave a lot to be desired - the flip-down drawer sticks but more importantly it refuses to play some disks that can be played in a £40 DVD unit on my PC. The latest example being Disk 2 of Troy. So despite a decent picture and sound quality I feel the time has come to look for a replacement.

I was going to buy a Denon (model undecided as they seem to bring a new one out every week!) but after reading about the problems several people seem to have with Denon players I'm now more inclined to look at Arcam and the DV78 in particular.

    My system is a Denon A10SE, B&W CM4 (front), B&W CMC (centre), B&W DM600 S3 (rear), JVC 32" 100Hz TV.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Cheers,
