I used to have TB px21 and was really impressed with them until they broke. I have 5.1 surround sound and it is immense for gaming, but need a headset that could emulate that kind of sound. Didn't want to spend much about £50. Just wanted a decent headset and is it worth getting a 5.2:7.1 adapter

Lol, I've also got PX21s, and had them about 2.5 years. I did break the left cup off the head band about a year ago but superglued it back on and it's been fine since. The left side no longer swivels but it's not an issue.

The part that broke was a tiny bit of plastic, poor design IMO. Apart from that I've found them to be a good headset.

The DSS is a fine addition to them.

Does anyone know if the DSS2 Sound Processor supports 7.1, just like the DSS. But other then that, what do you lot think I should pick between the DPX21 or DP11 from TB.

However I should mention one more thing: "I have a TB Headset for my Xbox 360, but it only works on the XB360."

The DSS2 is the same, but has movable profiles, for different rooms/sound positions, thats all.
As to DPX21 or DP11, that's personal preference, the P11 has 50mm drivers, the P21 has 40mm drivers.

One more question if any of you had to pick between the following, then what would you lot pick:

Turtle Beach DPX21 - I have read some reviews, that say the headset can be fragile.

Astro A40 - Some people have said the customer service is poor.
    Turtle Beach DP11
    Turtle Beach XP Seven
    Tritton AX Pro

I've had/tried, the DPX21, the A40/mixamp, and the AXPro(albeit from Sharkoon), and the DPX21 wins for me, hands down.

The XP Seven looks like it would be the DPX21, but with everythingn done headset end, rather than include a seperate DSS.
The A40's to me, sounded flat, and the Sharkoon's while nice, after trying the DPX21s and owning them, just never matched up.

I have now got my list down to three headsets:

*A40 - This is still on it seeing how a lot of reviews have said the sound quality is good.

*DPX21 - This had a interesting response from one member on GameFaqs, who mentioned about one part of the headsets build quality not being good for people who aren't too careful.

However the part the person mentioned was the rotating mechanism, which sounds like the part found on the ear cans. But aside from that the sound quality is still one thing, which is why I am looking at the DPX21.

The other headset on my shortlist: XP Seven

For me, the A40's were flat and lifeless, with little to no bass.
I don't know about you, but I want my headset to sound similar to my surround system with a decent amount of bass, with thundering effects when needed.

The players like MLG like the A40's I guess cause there isn't the bass to get in the way of their sound whoring, but on the PX21's and DSS, you can either turn it up, or turn it down completely.

Don't know about the rotating mechanism, as you pick them up, put them on, you take them off, you put them down, and if yuo are careless enough to break them, then it's your own fault.

After some thought I have decided to go with the PX22's, seeing how the reviews have been good on three different types of internet locations:

    *YouTube Video Reviews
    *Shopping Sites
    *Review Pages

    ______________________

    Going into more detail:

I will pair the PX22's with the DSS unit that came with my X360 DX11's, seeing how it will improve the sound even further. Other then that, another reason I am going for these over the DPX21 and D11's are as follows:

*It looks very similar to the design of the DX11's, which have been used by me for sometime with no problems.
*The plastic that is used looks to be the same.
*Microphone design is the same as the DX11
    *Cost
