    Hi,

I've just ordered The Walking Dead Season 2 Collectors Edition from the US but they're going be Region A disks my PS3 isn't going to play them... so I'm after a cheap internal BR drive for my PC, assuming whatever software used for playback will dictate what regions are allowed, rather than the drive's firmware?

    Any recommendations?

    Cheers :smashin:

Thanks, my PC should be more than enough to cope (i5, 8GB RAM etc) :smashin:

I'll have a look on Scan and see what's on offer for BR drives.

For plain playback, they much of a muchness. If you're ripping you get variations:
Lg > lite on > pioneer. For speed in my experience. For the lg you'll need to dig out rip lock free firmware to get it above 2.4ish x speed, then they are the fasted I've used.

Alternative is the cheapo Sony laptop drive for 30 at scan at the moment plus. £4 USB case off eBay/amazon. Mine rips about as fast as my full size lite on.

Finally don't forget software- you'll need something like anydvd to play stuff from a different region.

Thanks a lot mate. It's just for playback really but no harm in having a fast one so I'll check out the LGs first ;)
