    Hi
I don't like the ipod headphones. I find in-ear uncomfortable and quality isn't great.
What would the experts recommend as smallish (ie not in-ear, but not big dj types either), comfortable, high quality alternative for tube/train journeys?
    thanks

Check out the Audio Technica ATH-CM3. They just recieved a pretty good review in iLounge. Of course, I would spend a little bit extra and pic up a pair of CM7. The CM7's sound excellent for an earbud, but I find the e888s to be more comfortable and stable in my ear. For shorter term concentrated listening, the CM7's are much better, for long term listening it's a toss-up. If you have smaller ears openings you may prefer the CM7.

ATH-CM3 is a good model but in a good price range for iPods, I remember I got my one is about fifty something, this model is a replacement model for ATH-CM5. em........It's a big joke for using original iPod earphone for an hour.

I also love the Audio-Technica ATH-EC7.....this is an EXCELLENT model!

    Hope this helps!

For the tube, you want a decent amount of isolation. Unfortunately nothing small that isn't a pair of in-ear canalphones really offers a high degree of isolation, but you might like to check out the Sennheiser PX200 and the AKG K26P as both are closed and highly portable phones. The brand new K26P's are getting good reviews so far.

Yes...? I'm trying to get across that CM3, CM7ti, etc will not be heard while travelling on the tube.

Audio-Technica ATH-EC7 have prefect weight and construction. As for the sound it has the whole range, just enough of everything. They are slightly less treble, but the bass is good and very controlled, not boomy like on the Sony and Shure inner-ear phones.

Overall these are the best portable headphones I ever tried!

Yes, it's only a few earphones with clip-on feature found in Audio-Technica series, ATH-EC7 is one of the choices you gotta to try.

Anyone have experience with the Audio-Technica ATH-EW9? It's world's first wooden clip-on which have suprior build quality and finish.

But it's more expensive than the EC7
