I've tried using an ad blocker in the past, but that caused problems on this site as I wasn't able to whitelist AVF unless I paid for an upgrade.
So, what are some suggestions for a free ad blocker with whitelist capabilities that you don't have to pay for?

I'm using a MacBook pro running the latest OS.

Safari.
Should have mentioned that.

if you can get a raspberry pi stick PiHole on in and this will block all adware and other dodgy sites including malware command and control hosts
