    Hi,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a dealer around Berkshire / Surrey I can visit who wouldn't mind setting up a demo of the Denon A1SR vs Pioneer VSA-AX10i amps?

    Cheers,
    Andy

I ordered a AX10i on saturday....i bought this without listening to it...

I'm sure i made the right decision...... I had a Yammy RX-V100RDS...so it should be much better than that at least !

Regarding your demo needs.....As you can see i'm in bristol...so sorry i can not help you in that department

Heh, please give us a review once you've got it settled in!

And can I ask how much you paid for it?

Its funny, the more I read around forums like this, the more I wonder if I'll just do a blind purchase.. but sense is currently prevailing, hence looking for a good demo venue.

    Cheers,
    Andy

PS oh, and if I upgrade, I'll be upgrading from a Sony DB930 - so yeah, in a lot of ways it just HAS to be better!!

You could do a quick zip down the M4 to Swindon - we have Sevenoaks and Audio-T with good demo facilities. You could call them to see if they have the amps you mention.

Ah, you've reminded me there is an Audio T in Camberley. Might give 'em a call.

    Thanks for the reply!

Audio-T have outlets in Reading & Basingstoke (I think) 7oaks have a store in reading.

Problem is that different parts of these chains have different leanings depending on the manager of the branch, so a particular branch may not stock both of the items you're after so get on the phone is the best tip I can give you.

    Good luck

Camberley Audio-T is very hot on Meridian, and IIRC the manager prefers Denon's for the lower end customers. Almost certainly they can demo you an A1SR, and given the hotcake like status of the AX10i, they may well have one in as well. Give them a ring.:smashin:

Thanks for the tip on the Camberley branch.

Although I have to try and not get wound up by the idea of tiers of customers!

Mind you, it was worth it years ago in Sevenoaks, Guildford when I was a student and spent several hundred pounds on speaker cable. As it was obvious I had been pigeon holed as sub-lower end 'not going to spend any money in here ever' by the staff, the looks on their faces were rather amusing!

    Cheers,
    Andy

I didn't say they categorise customers individually, but:
    Tier 1: Meridian/Tag/Lexicon owners
Tier 2: Pioneer/Denon/Yamaha flagship and slightly lower models
    Tier 3: Richer Sounds Customers
    would be a description.:D

I purchased my Pioneer AX10i from AudioVision in Stevenage.
They also have a branch in St.Neots, Cambridge.
I paid £2250, and bought it on BUY NOW PAY 12 MONTHS LATER.
They also do other types of credit terms, 12 months 0% etc.
You can order online or at the shop. I order my Pioneer on Tuesday over the phone, they then order direct from Pioneer, and mine arrived on Friday , and collected on Saturday.

It is an excellent amplifier, the best i've ever had.Well worth the asking price.
