    Hi all,

    Just a quick one!

At the moment im just working my way through prison break season one and am already pondering over what to watch after ive finished (in about a week at this rate!!)
Anyway im not a huge sci fan and have heard some good reviews regarding deadwood and i also heard its ending after season 3.

Therefore just wanted some info on what its like, character wise, plot twists etc before i take the plunge and buy season 1

    Cheers!

Fantastic television! Imagine a western with dialogue written by a naughty Shakespeare and you'd be somewhere close.

    Regards

The calibre of the acting is brilliant. However the language, both the terminoology and expletives is a little dizzying.

I haven't seen any of the season that's currently being shown on $ky and it's not bothered me at all.

I'd say rent season 1 if you really want to see it.

I believe that cost was a major factor as it has a huge cast and is very expensive to film. I've read that the idea is to finish it off after season 3 with 2 two hours specials.

I'd highly recommend Deadwood. But if you're after something else, you can't get much better than "The Wire". Fanstastic stuff.

Yep, they spent too much Money on Rome, so couldn't afford anymore Deadwood. As you say though, at least they should be able to wrap it up to a satisfactory conclusion withe the 2 specials.

The Wire is indeed amazing! I've heard a lot of good stuff about Deadwood, and will be borrowing it off my mate next week hopefully.

I've only seen season 1 of Deadwood, when it was recently on Sky Three. Before seeing it I was dubious, as I hadn't heard much about it and I'm not a fan of westerns. Still, I gave it a try and I'm very glad I did. Enjoyed it enormously. Brilliantly written and acted. Not for anyone with delicate ears, though, as it's full of bad language.

this was on my TV the other night while i was surfing on the PJ.....looked like a fantastic cast......just a shame the script was a load of rubbish....those actors i saw could do so much more, and indeed they tried to, but it fell flat, it was just an excuse to have people say the F word a lot......turned down the volume and put on some music instead......mebbe it gets better, i dunno, but to me it looked like a poor attempt to cause controversy with the language more than anything...

Really enjoyed all seasons so far - the language doesn't seem to be included to shock but more to show a society where etiquette hasn't really been introduced - it wasn't long before I was watching as I would any other programme and not even registering the language because it was just the befitting dialogue of Deadwood.

I'd heard one of the main reasons it was finishing is because the brain behind the show wanted to move onto his next project.

Quite simply fabulous . Dialogue is, I have been told, historically accurate. Strong cast, excellent character development over the three series and above all- entertaining! Ian McShane is amazing in the programme and well deserving of the Emmy awards he has won for this.

It amazes me that, given all the abuse heaped upon the American TV industry, and accusations that they are pandering to an even more moronic audience than those happy with ITV/BBC output in this country, they can produce material like this. ITV executives would do well to watch in order to learn some important lessons they seem to have fogotten!

Just watched the final episode and I have to say it was all a bit of an anti climax, considering the brilliant build up.

    Shame it has ended.

I'm guessing they held back for the two TV movies that they are (hopefully) making next year.

I agree. There I was expecting something big but ended up saying "Is that it?"

    Why is it, though, that
the other bar owner went bonkers, killed his barman and was going to shoot the woman

I think and it is just a guess that
Cy for all his big words ended up being nothing more than Hurst's lapdog and even though it ate into his soul he didn't have the guts to shoot Hurst or himself but only stab his guy and threaten the whore.
Joanie after all was a much stronger person than Cy and she proved it time and time again
    .

Not the ending to the final season I hoped for but given it's nature not one I am surprised by, we were never going to get the classic western ending in Deadwood:)

    Starburst,

That is why it was so much of an anti climax. I was expecting some unique development, but it just petered out.

    Spoiler-o-vision ahoy:

Well I knew hurst wouldn't be killed as he didn't die in Deadwood for real, but I was expecting some sort of face off with the pinkertons and the townies. I wasn't expecting for the election to end and then they just leave town. And what happened to Woo, after all the effort Swegen made to get his men there, we didn't even see them.
