My 360 died while playing the dead rising demo! Im happy to believe that its a coincidence tho. It was a launch day machine that had no problems up til then, played the game for probably only 10 mins before it locked up and then couldnt play anything for more than a minute without it freezing and getting 3 flashing red lights. Still, m$ were pretty fast replacing it. Rang them on the saturday, they picked it up monday and i had a replacement thursday. Which is working fine so far. Maybe i should try dead rising some more, just to make sure....

The Dead Rising demo was the last game I played played before my Xbox went kaput. Turned the Xbox off all fine and dandy, next day I turned it on to get the pacman demo from the marketplace and nothing happened, all I got were the three red lights lol.

Can't confirm any link to DR, for all I know someone came into the room and gave the console a fair old whack when no-one was about. Haven't tried the demo on the new console yet so will give that a go later :)

Surely if it wasn't rubbish then it would kill everyone's machine though?

I've played DR a few times and my 360 still continues to function as before.

No because it's a temperamental thing, it only happens on a few 360s, but it does happen. Just like GRAW which killed off a fair few too.

The guy that wrote that article is an imbecile.

Think about it , generally speaking the more high profile a game is , the more popular it is and the more likley it is that it will be the game an average xbox360 owner happens to be playing. The same applies to GRAW, Oblivion , Prey.

So if its a game thats widespread and popular its more than likely its the game a given xbox360 owner will be playing if/when the machine fails.

Now I happen to agree that the 360 certainly seems to suffer from reliability issues ( on my second one and its probably going back as it periodically grinds discs) but to see some causal link between failure and a specific game is so moronic it frankly borders on superstition.

Hmmm, I initially thought this a load of rubbish as well. But is it possible some games push the 360 harder than others, causing it to get warmer? I've seen pictures of an open 360 and the user pointed out that the thermal paste was applied badly, causing his system to overheat. Could a combination of poorly built 360's and a game that pushes the console more than previous ones played contribute to a failure? Just a thought.

Well my 360 failed after I was playing the 'Just Cause' demo and the dog walked in front of the 360! Let that be a lesson to you all.....has anyone else had this problem. I would be interested to hear if it happens with cats as well ;)

I do not know weather it does kill the 360's, but it could be that if the xbox was not in full working order, when I say that I mean if say 2 out of the 3 cores were working(for instance) and the only games played on that machine never really pushed it. Then play Dead Rising which takes a full perfect working machine to run properly, it dies. Its possible. But also could be a load of old twaddle.:)

Yeah all this happened to me...
Simply phone Microsoft about the problem... *you may have to phone back so many times as they give you solutions which don't work*
and they will pick it up next working day and return it in 1-2 working days

I have and mine has'nt messed up since played on it 6 hours straight constantly feeling the back to make sure it wasnt getting too hot

I honestly dont think its as random as a few people have made out -especially saying like a popular game will mean more people playing i.e. more likely to crash withthat game on as 90% of gamers have COD2 ad iv never heard loads die with COD2?? Just a thought :smashin:

My machine crashed when I was playing Dead Rising (full game) yesterday - It's a Japanese 360 and crashed when not much was on the screen.... don't even like the game that much anyway :)

Is it worth maybe getting one of those cooling devices?

Not unless your xbox is extremely hot, no.

I'm literally dumbfounded by some of the replies in this thread. Did you know Gears of War will make your xbox literally explode? It's true because I read it on the internet!

Yes, and don't even mention Halo 3; it makes your 360 grow mechanical legs, chase after you and then somehow eat you whole. After which it explodes.

I hope Dead Rising does not mess with my Xbox 360, because TDU is out on the same day as Dead Rising.
