Just seen this over at DS - looks like there may be a Dead Like Me movie being made -

    SFX

    &

    More

Fantastic news is this is right and if they manage to get the cast back together (although With Mandy Patinkin doing great things in Criminal Minds it may be hard)

Apart from Mandy has anyone else from the cast done anything since:)

That said perhaps MGM are seriously backing direct to DVD, I can't really see a theatrical release doing business.

I'm waiting for the 2nd season DVD set. If it's as good as the first I would very much like to see the film.

    Cheers

I've had the R1 season 2 boxset for what seems like years but is in fact only 2, at times multiregion just makes so much sense:)

    People actually like this show?

It is the worst thing I have ever seen and I am usually very tolerant of [email protected] shows.

Nothing happens and the cast especially the main character (the one that always looks moody and only seems to be able to be roll her eyes) are terrible actors.

Cant believe they got the go ahead for season two let alone a movie.

Man I cant believe the terrible taste some people have. It is so bad that I actually do not believe that people with wildly different taste to me can still even like the show one bit.

Wow, with such a constructive post why waste your time on the AVF you should be over at DS where this sort of disrespect of others and their opinions and total trolling of threads you have no interest in is more par for the course.

    UKBondraider,

    You wrote:
So, pray-tell, oh Great-and-oh-so-bloody-Divine-one, what do YOU classify as good TV?! Teletubbies, perhaps? Is something like "Bratz" more up to your standard for high-IQ viewing? Or do you simply find "Rosie And Jim" too taxing nowadays?!

If you wish to slate people, at least do so with some kind of constructive criticism, rather than simply lambasting other peoples' taste (or lack thereof). You'll then be seen in a slightly more favourable light! :lesson:

Good TV is something like Prisonbreak, BSG (well season 1 and 2 anyway), 24, West Wing, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars etc etc.

My post was not meant to be negative towards other people.

I just for some reason feel so strongly about the fact that Dead Like Me is such a [email protected] programme that I cant help but erupt in anger inside when someone can claim to like it. Believe me I dont know what it is and why I despise this show so much.

I guess I wish there was no following for it so it would have collapsed before the end of the first season instead of the end of the second season. How they could even get a go ahead for someone to even think of a movie is beyond me.

You like Gilmore Girls. I sat through a couple of seasons of it so I could record it for someone else. Yuk.

BTW I love Dead Like Me. The second season is darker than the first, but still very enjoyable.

When I don't like a show I tend not to look at the threads about it in the first place. Unless asked directly I tend not to give an opinion and I certainly don't insult the people who watch it.

Thanks I knew it was due to come out but didn't know it was out already. Also just found out that the movie is to be straight to DVD if and when it happens.

    Cheers

I don't know your definition of good TV but your idea seems like hell to me. If it's not made by HBO or Showtime in American it ain't worth watching.

Dead Like Me is a brilliant original show with likeable characters and witty dialogue.

Sleeper Cell, The Wire, The Sopranos, Dead Like Me, Band of Brothers and Oz are truly great TV and are not limited by over zealous American censorship like network shows such as 24 and Prison Break.

    Hi,

Some more news for you all, on this story:

    - Mandy Patinkin has confirmed he does not appear in the movie, due to other work commitments.

    - His character, Rube Sofer has departed the "Dead Like Me" world, and a new head reaper named Cameron Kane takes over. He's a slick businessman who couldn't care less about helping the newly dead. Chaos ensues and brings out the worst in Daisy and Mason who begin drinking anew. George and Reggie re-connect for the first time when George reaps a new friend of Reggie's.

    - The film will NOT be released to cinemas, but will go straight to DVD in both the US and UK. No distribution deals have yet been confirmed, nor is there any news on US or UK TV showings.

    - The film is not due for release until Easter 2009, at the earliest.

    - Stephen Herek will be directing the film.

    - The cast list now includes: Callum Blue as Mason, Ellen Muth as George, Henry Ian Cusick as Cameron Kane, Sarah "24" Wynter as Daisy Adair, Cynthia Stevenson as Joy (George's mother), Jasmine Guy as Roxy, Cindy Busby, Britt McKillip as Reggie Lass, Justin Bradley, Marie-Marguerite Sabongui as Lisa, Christine Willes as Delores Herbig, Nicolas Wright as Zac Bansinger, Tyrone Benskin as Commissioner Cusek, Crystal Dahl as Crystal!, Adrianne Richards, Jesse Rath, Susan Glover, Mélanie St-Pierre, Meghanne Kessels, Bruno Verdoni, Madeleine Barbeau as Young Reggie, Jade Carpenter, Jordan Hudyma, Ferelith Young and Amélie Sorel.

    - It will probably be an R-rated movie in the US, and a 15 in the UK. So there should be no problems regarding the film being toned-down for a nice, tame PG-13 in the US or 12A in the UK, and hence the film should be similar in nature to the TV series's nature ;) .

Dead Like Me: Life After Death is released on R1 SD DVD on Feb 17 (i.e... it's already doing the rounds ;) ;) ;))

I see that Daisy is now being played by the other Warner sister from 24 S2.

Well I think they managed to just about pull it off.

The story plays out more like a pilot than a stand alone film, I can only hope a third series follows.

Rube missing is a shame and Daisy just isn't Daisy although that's probably as much to do with the limited on screen time for Sarah Wynter. Given a few episodes she might be able to grow on me.

The usual mix of laughter and sadness (and language :smashin:) are there and George with Dolores always makes me smile.

7/10 I guess I'm just a little disappointed for now as I know there aren't more to follow (yet :lease:)

I tend to agree, it had enough of the feel of the series proper to hold it's own.
Having said that no one could replace Laura Harris, she had a personality and look that suited the Daisy character down to the ground and Sarah just wasn't well cast. I didn't realise she had played Rebecca in Dead Zone, a much better performance and roll for her and of course Laura had a part in that series.

Funny how I always say "Desmond" when Henry first appears, he will always be Desmond even when playing a Russian in Hitman:)
Ellen looked a little rough until the final scene when she looked like perfection and Britt had grown up nicely.
Great to get most of the cast back together but without Mandy there was a huge hole and I stopped watching Criminal minds after he left but the far more interesting characters in Dead Like Me did soften the blow.

    WWRD, Loni Anderson:rotfl:

I reckon I'll pick it up if it gets a Blu release.
