I just caught a preview of this game on CVG and it looks quite interesting - CVG describes it as a cross between "Far Cry, Lost, Resident Evil and Dead Rising" which seems quite apt from the photos (I've attached some below).

    The official site is here.

It looks like this will be the year of the zombie, what with this, Left 4 Dead and Resident Evil 5 out in 2008!

    I've been out with her.

Game looks like it's got potential, think they've got the chance to do something a bit different with this.

I'm a big survival horror fan so I'll be looking forward to seeing how this one develops.

I've longed for a proper decent zombie game, one that stands up to George Romero's conventions of the genre. I've always wanted a game based on Dawn of the Dead.

This looks a bit more 'Zombie Flesh Eaters' scenario, we'll have to see how it turns out.

I think it definitely got its influences from Dawn of the Dead - that game could have been great if it was more of a sandbox rather than the silly mission structure system they incorporated.

Dead Rising could have been an excellent game - however Capcom clearly highed a team to muck it up as much as possible. Naff save system, 2 dimensional characters, unbelieveable storyline, stupid bosses, dumb levelling system etc etc. The location and fighting was quite good though.

Totally agree, I played it recently for the first time and found that although you could wander around and do your own thing it got boring quickly.

From this interview dead island definitely sounds more oblivion style with side quests and the like. Dunno whether I'll get it on 360 or PC though, will have to see how moddable it is.

Have to admit I completely missed this game - looks like it is one to watch. Graphics look a little lacklustre in the post Crysis but then what doesn't? I notice from one of the pics that a headless zombie is attacking the player - that's not really fair is it? Everyone knows to kill a zombie you have to inflict trauma on it's head - so how you supposed to kill this chap?

Any updates on this game at all? Haven't heard or seen anything on it which sort of implies it's not coming this Christmas.

The publishers are describing it as a "non-linear FPP (First Person Perspective) survival horror" title. TBH it sounds very good. Apparantley you can use anything as a weapon - obviously that has been done before with Condemned and wasn't nearly as promising as it sounded - but you never know.

Clearly the game has been delayed and judging by Tejstar's quote it is probably a significant delay as a press blackout has clearly been imposed (standard practise to avoid a game being over-hyped). I doubt we'll see this before Q2 2009 - but from the previews it will look like it's worth the wait.

Yep, I hope the delay is not ominous, but if they are fixing bugs to make it even better then they should definitely take the time. I don't remember seeing any vids for this though, just screenshots.

There are some preview/teaser video trailers on the official site. I haven't viewed them myself though because they would eat my 2G connection for breakfast.

I dont understand the fuss behind the trailer, the game looks good and the trailer is pretty decent but its being touted as amazing, I dont get it myself

For a game trailer, that is stunning. There's some real talent in that studio.

I hope the game can deliver the kind of emotion the trailer created.

It's a pretty good trailer all in - meant to tug at the heartstrings

Whether the game is good or not is another story. Since then we've had left4dead being hailed as pretty good in the zombie stakes :)

Only three years after the thread was originally created... it should hopefully be good if they took that long to make it!

Apparently it's VERY graphic and not comic book violence (ala Dead Rising) so when you slam an axe into zombie muscle, it reacts realistically to the blow...e.g you cut through individual muscles etc. Sounds like it will be banned over here

personally i love the trailer its zombies after all!

but one thing i never do is judge a game from a pre-rendered trailer\cut scene because a trailer is not actually the game, i always think pre-rendered trailers are cheating, i would much rather prefer to see what i'll actually be playing.

Nice trailer but I still can't tell what type of game this will be - third-person, FPS or something else entirely?
