Like many people here, my 360 has died. Sod's law it's just a couple of weeks past the one-year warranty expiring :suicide: Anyway, I just wanted to check that it is officially dead before I buy a new one.

When I get the red light ring of death, the second of the four lights isn't on. When I looked that up it said that it means it's just overheated, and to turn it off, unplug everything, and it might be okay. I don't believe that's the case at all (it had been playing up for a couple of weeks anyway, freezing, failing to read discs etc.).

    New 360 time?

Contact MS and / or who you purchased it from

well worth a try before buying a new one - then if no joy try fixing yours - web full of people who have opened it up and replaced the stuff around the heat sync and have working 360
