Just done this. Feels surprisingly liberating!
Decided to stop using Faceache on 25th Dec 2016 and haven't been back since.
Don't miss it in the slightest.
I came off it last month. It was a total waste of time. I got sick of just reading the same posts off the same people all of the time. Glad to be away from it tbh. I'll stick to Twitter for my social media fix.
If you really mean it then delete the email account associated with it.
I actually did delete mine. No record of me on fb anymore. I've had a few texts off people asking why I came off etc.
That does it completely?
It removes the temptation to open it again after seeing the latest of 4000 emails from FB informing you of what you think you might be missing.
I'm glad to be rid of it. Total waste of time...apart from the stuff being sold locally section.
Fixed that for you
They fake used Ikea wardrobes now?
In my circle of friends I'm the only one who had never setup an account.
My OH uses it enough for the both of us.
I love them accounts called Mary&[email protected] and you comment on something and she replies that Dave found that funny.
WELL I TELL YOU WHAT TELL DAVE TO GET DOWN THE PUB WITH US REAL PEOPLE AND HAVE A LAUGH LIKE WE USED TO DO.
OH I forgot Dave is asleep in the armchair and you've not really spoken to each other for 5 years.
You ok hun? x
Pm me. Lol
lol I meant to click the timestamp for "Post Pictures of your recent purchases" and started to read from bottom up thinking what the **** is this then noticing the name of the tab "Deactivating Facebook" so had to go back to main page to find out what the hell I had done lol.
What I see
Not helpful if you use said email account elsewhere though....
I'd love to deactivate mine - but it's just too useful. I've just defriended the people that post rubbish or attention seeking nonsense.
I operate a strict 2 strike policy on Britain First shares too. Once could be a mistake, twice you're out. I've lost several family members from the north east this way .
Now I only have 328 of my closest friends on there
facebook can be annoying, but that's only because of the people on there.
Simply get rid of the ones that annoy and maybe follow interesting pages.
I just don't get the whole "facebook is rubbish" thing.
It's like going to a pub where everyone is rude and talking crap, you just go to another pub
People on one bit of the web, criticising those on another bit of the web.
I do agree however I'm also getting peed with Facebook now due to the massive ramp up in the number of adverts in the feed - and so many of them videos for some reason. It's more than half 'suggested' crap for me now.
I believe the "correct" terminology is inbox me, though I've no idea why? Never seen that anywhere else but inbox seems to have become the default for PM on FB.
Maybe they letterbox each other cards at Christmas.
I've just unfollowed everyone. Facebook was a useful tool for promoting events but I'm not longer doing that so unfollowing keeps my feed quiet. I just belong to a group that posts house music and eclectic music so birds of a feather can flock together and share music and experiences. I'm on the Open Uni group too but will probably leave that once the module begins as last yr people began bickering.
I have a FB account to sign up for certain websites, offers etc and to complain about customer service issues with retailers and suppliers as they actually take notice of their FB feed (same with Twitter). Apart from that it's blank, I friended 2 people I knew in real life and decided it was a load of crap that I had no interest in and it's sat there virtually blank for over 8 years.
yep, i've unfollowed a few people, and also use facebook purity to strip down what I see on my laptop - and what I see on my screen is very uncluttered...tho, still see lots of crap on my feed tho...
I'll DM you
Never interested me although my daughter did set me up an account and put all her friends on it. Great, people I don't know.
Didn't last long though as I slagged them all off and the blocked me. Never used it again. Don't do Twitter either.
I think the whole social media thing is for 12 year old girl's and nosey bastards.
and presumably AV enthusiasts I wonder what the key difference is between AVF and FB. A lot of people complain about all the FB 'pictures of dinner'/'pictures of holidays' etc - we have whole sections dedicated to these things
I started off being really, really enthusiastic about Facebook and joining all kinds of silly groups. After a while, I reduced the number of groups I was a member of, and gradually increased the privacy level and the amount of stuff I was sharing. I then found myself using it less and less and I could easily go weeks and weeks without visiting.
Finally I decided to bite the bullet. I changed my status to tell people I was leaving (no-one cared - I'm not sure whether that says more about me or them) and sent a few people my email address. I haven't looked back since.
My basic problem with Facebook was that after the initial excitement, I just found it terribly, terribly boring. I'm not interested in what people have for lunch, their (generally spoilt) children or whether their dog can ride a bike. It just encourages people to be even more self-obsessed and makes them even more reliant on their phone/tablet/computer. Whatever happened to talking to people face to face or making the time to visit each other in person?
I'm not on Facebook but if people have videos of dogs that can ride a bike I am in.
