Guys have any of you got a Day One faulty controller?

My controller on the odd occasion switches off and the light flashes, it's not the battery as I had just replaced it with a fresh one.

I'm in 2 minds whether to send it off or not as it's the day one edition :(

Has anyone sent thiers off and received a Day One Edition back?

I just called MS Chat and got a coffin coming for my Day one console. It has been fine since launch and the last 2-3 days both controllers will lose sync and games keep telling me to reconnect them. I tried factory resets, and holding power down etc but nothing worked. My lights would flash for a quick second on both controllers and reconnect; sometimes they would just keep flashing. I hope yours does not do the same but seems strangely similar to mine. I know its not the controller as I have tried both. Anyway did the Advance Exchange so new one will be here soon hopefully. What you could try is to play with the usb lead attached and see if it's ok but if your still having issues then call support.

Yes my controller light flashed now and again and that's when sometimes the screen would say 'please re connect'

Are you getting a whole new console replaced? or just the controllers etc

sorry just noticed, will they send you a day one back?

try the old holding the power button down for 10 secs and disconnect power trick. If that dont help, try re-syncing controllers. finally try to play with usb lead in and if it works, your day one console like mine might need to be repaired :(

The console may not be able to hold a sync with the controller, if thats the case then its fauly but I suggest you troubleshoot like I have said earlier :)

ill try my second controller then and see if that holds up

i would rather just have to send my controller away rather than the whole console lol

Mine occasionally disconnects mid game, even with fresh batteries.

The casing is loose on it though, the left hand side creaks away when you grip it.

Yea, I was the same, I waited 4 days but after a full factory reset I knew it wasn't both controllers. But at least I can play with the usb lead plugged in until the new one arrives!

no did the advance exchange. They hold a £390 charge on my card and send me one first. I then send old one back in same box. They need to have faulty box back within 14 days or they charge me £390

they hold 390.00 against your card (no actual money is taken) but you must return faulty unit in 14 days.

I see on the Xbox support you can choose either a normal controller or the Day One edition

So if I choose the Day One controller will they send the exact same back?

Has anyone sent theirs back and got a Day One sent to them ad a workable replacement ?

They have set up a repair so now I send them the old one then they will send me a new one :)

Is it a free-post? and would I be better purchasing signed for delivery?

the under palm sections just snap on and off i believe, my day one controllers (yes i have 2) left analogue sticks are starting to wiggle slightly without doing anything, exactly like the 360 controllers did, MS were supposed to have eliminated this :(

My day 1 edition controller creaks as the plastic doesn't sit right on the right hand side of the pad. I got a normal additional pad within a week and its perfect, couldn't be bothered to send back the other one so I'll use it for the rare occasion of local multiplayer.

Well I've just learnt that by sending the controller back recorded delivery to the Czech Republic will cost loads... ((Fuming))

So I'm just going to keep it and use it as a spare if needed. Can't BELIEVE they don't offer free postage back to the repair centre.

I've noticed with my controller's is if you twist them slightly they disconnect. Don't use my day one controller any more as it feels like it's going to fall to bits.

umm if your twisting it its going to disconnect, your warping the pcb, boards dont like being flexed

It's only very slightly. I can do it with my 360 pad to the point of destruction and it's fine.

Join the club! I had exactly the same issue, initial cost was £50 to send to Prague via recorded. I had it escalated within support and they didn't budge - we have to pay it ourselves. I found TNT to be the cheapest at £27. Took about a week to come back as they send it via normal post in a jiffy bag. Grrrr!
I spoke to Amazon after though and they've refunded me £80 back as they couldn't replace Day One stock.
