I just thought I would warn people in a similar situation to me. I have had this title on order at play for a couple of months. It was shown as "released 4th October", "Unrated Directors Cut (shown on the cover - same as R1)". Luckily I checked this again today and PLAY are now showing this as a standard Cinema version with the unrated directors cut to be released on 25th October on R2 - I'm bloody glad I checked as I had heard nothing about this and when I ordered there was only one "Dawn of the Dead (2004)" scheduled for release!! Order cancelled, I think I will just order the R1 directors cut out on the 5th.

Yeah I noticed this on play.com also. Think I will still hold out till the 25th and get the R2 unrated directors cut.

I would if I still had my old tv. On my new plasma screen (on refection plasma was a poor choice for my room) R1 and R3 dvds look rubbish.

Doesn't your dvdp allow you to force the discs to pal?
Might give you more purchase options if that improves PQ. Just a thought:)

Hmmmm....I think there may be a similar situation in Australia. I have found the movie listed with two different slick artwork. A couple of sites mention Directors Cut, while another, just the film title. I've cancelled my R1 directors cut order till I sort it out because I prefer a PAL transfer.

I just got a reply from an online store in Australia that there is only one version being released in region 4 which is the directors cut. Initially they had sketchy details provided to them so the information on the site was a bit vague, conflicting with other sites.

play.com now have both R2 verisons listed for release on 25/10/04. Think I will pay the extra few quid for the directors cut.

I got the R3 Directors Cut a few months ago and so far have only had chance to watch the extras and not the film itself but have skipped through it and the quality looks very good.
