    Hi,

Anyone know where I can get my hands on a replacement bulb for a DLS8?
( It expired 5 seconds after Ricardo's penalty beat James.. :rotfl: )
It was the source of much amusement at the time, but i'm getting bored of no movies now...

I've not had much luck at tracking one down so far.. seems to be a bit of a rare PJ?

    Cheers,

    Jon

Was a good PJ in its' day (I had one, fed via HTPC), but you can get an infocus pj of far better quality now (same resolution) for just under £576:

It has an internal scaler and better image processing than the DLS8, so u may as well go for that rather than buy a new lamp.

EDIT - lamps are a bit cheaper here and include VAT:

Though I think you'll be impressed by the improved image the X1 has over the DLS8 unless you're already using an HTPC.

I'm already using HTPC and loved the piccy from the davis.. but i'm fairly settled on UG'ing to an Optoma H56 in the very near future..
I need more pixels for PC stuff and it looks like a bargain at £1700

Any thoughts on this particular PJ ( or others) in comparison (PQ) to my dearly departed DLS8 ?

I just want an XGA PJ (DLP) with good PQ , connections not really an issue as i'm using a HTPC with either VGA or DVI available for the PJ..

Quieter the better, but again, PQ is the main factor..

At those bulb prices it looks like the Davis has beamed it's last image...

Anybody want to buy a DLS8 without a bulb?

Nope - seems like a good upgrade path to me.

I upgraded from the DLS8 to an NEC HT1000 about 18months ago, and you'll be getting a comparable image for half the price, so you're going to be very pleased I would say. :)
