I have never watched Sport on Box Office (not had sky long) does anyone know what time the main event is likely to start and what price it is likely to be, are you able to record it just in case you cannot watch it live?

    TIA. ;)

The fight is at the MEN so it should be a decent hour, I think the Ruiz Haye fight started around 2300 so prob the same this time round. Boxing is normally £15 and you can record it however you will only be able to view it for a few days after the event (possibly as long as a week). Sky Box Office will also show replays the following day. If you go this route be sure to avoid sky sports news until you've watched the fight!

Thanks for the info, jeez £15, at least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask when he was robbing folk. :rotfl:

I was waiting for that :) I was justifying the cost to myself last night but then I think about how much it costs to go to the cinema or a gig it feels better. I normally tap up a few mates, get them over and we split the cost.

When are the tight wads going to realise if they ask £15 a lot of customers are going to be put off, if it was £5 they would likely sell 4 times the amount, £15 for a fight that could easily finish in the first round (or soon after if the bookies are to be believed) is well OTT in IMHO.

The price has been the same since box office's launch back in the mid 90's although there was normally an early bird discount and it would only cost you £10 if you booked in advance. The fact they haven't changed the price since then would suggest they get enough people paying £15 a time to have to rethink their pricing policy.

No they don't, cannot remember the last time they did this, think its been a long, long time. Remember it vaguely in the early days, resorted to internet streams for a number of years after a few poor box office fights and its only since getting HD I've been taking them out again.

I was thinking of using internet streams but i am getting fed up with poor picture quality even on the better known sites, I think i will begrudgingly pay the £15 price and hope its a good fight and is not over too quickly.

Will the fight be in HD or am i expecting too much for my £15 ?

I dont get how they can have any sport on box office when you pay for sky sports. Boxing not a sport??? Boxing, wwe and any sport sky have the deal for should only be on sky sports.

id go along with that , Harrison has only a punchers chance as he has power.

I never pay for it out of principle I pay for sky sports that should be enough but its so conveluted now in boxing I spose its the only way to get these fights on.

On a side note Sky used to show UFC years ago its a shame they havnt stayed with MMA in some form too consider how fast its growing in the US and here.

Yes it will and the boxing is normally very good quality. Wouldn't be surprised if they did it in 3D as well.

in america are the fights not alot more expensive. I seem to remember that may weather was around $50. So maybe sky see that it is cheap enough.

With Pacquiao v Margarito the same night I wonder if we'll be treated to that as well as their undercard? The Haye fight is 2300 so it would be viable.

This will definitely happen. Both Pacquio and Haye taking on less than glamorous opponents so it will be good for them to "throw" the Pacquiao fight into the deal aswell.

£15 for both the Haye & Pacquiao fight for me is money well spent, will be entertaining either way. One thing is for sure the Pacman fight won't be on Sky Sports!

It certainly does make sense to put them together and parting with £15 would be a no brainer for me and probably a lot of other people. I hope they do as I don't see the Haye fight lasting long, suppose if the card is decent then the cost is somewhat justified but putting these together would prevent any disappointment.

Pretty sure the Pacquiao/Cotto fight wasn't ppv and was shown on SS1, even if they don't bundle the cards together it's a fair assumption Sky will show the Pacquiao fight so we should be in for a great night of boxing.

^Definitely will be more than value IMO.

Both fights will 100% be on Box Office. I was trying to remember when this happened before and it came back to me. It was the fight after Khan was destroyed by Prescott, vs Oisin Fagan. I thought absolutely no way would I be ordering that shambles but Sky pulled a fast one at paired it up with the Pacquiao vs De La Hoya fight which was on the same night. They therefore had my money ;) That is the only time Mayweather and Pacquiao has been on Box Office other than the Hatton fights.

It would be more exciting to watch a couple of Chavs kicking two bells out of each other outside the nearest weatherspoons than these two

Undercard taking shape now, bit of a touch Groves' fight against Toney was cancelled as it gives the card a bit more substance. Whether his fight will be a title defence is still uncertain though.

Stuart Hall vs Gary Davies (British Bantamweight)
Chris Edwards vs Ashley Sexton (Commonwealth Flyweight)
George Groves vs TBA (Commonwealth Super Middleweight)

and Pacman won't be on box office but SS1.

Even if you find out the result but want to see it & can wait a week it'll be shown on 1 of the sky sports channels for nothing as thats what usually happens.

The Ultimate Fighter show( like x factor for fighters) is shown on Sky Sports 2 on a tuesday night about 10pm, its Skys way of trying to get a market share of the mma audience back of the fastest growing sport in the world.
They only recently bought the rights for it as it used to been shown on 5usa, Sky tried it before but it didn't seem to take off then & it was shown on Bravo then Setanta before it went **** up.
UFC PPV main events & other highlight & preview shows are shown on ESPN, about 2 PPVs a month. I pay ESPN £9 a month for the sub but its a better deal than the Yanks do, as the PPV's cost $50 each over there.

If anyone is interested we have a great mma thread in this forum

bloody hell just realised one of my old clients is on the undercard - ashley sexton, should be a good fight with him and chris edwards, hes been after him for a while. Still not paying for the fight though, call me a miser , tight git .. whatever but i resent paying for sporting events.
