This is fabulous! Arrived this morning from CD-WOW and have had it playing continuously in the car and at home ever since!! "Dead in the Water" is my favourite track so far :) Highly recommended to those that like that sort of thing :D

The "David Gray" sort of thing. Hard to describe other than that.

Have you not heard anything from his previous album, "White Ladder"? This one's in the same vein.

www.davidgray.com (a good few tracks in their entirety are on there)

Practice makes perfect, still better quality than an autochanger tho.

and no I'm not I watched south park the movie!!:D They go waw waaw if you're interested.

as for melancholy male vocalists... try richard ashcroft (he of the verve) first album was great, second has just come out.

I've gone a bit rocky this morning and ordered Queens of the Stone Age (is it Pointon who loves that one?) and The Coral. Just looking for Turin Brakes new album on pre-order.

Don't autochangers deliver the full monty then??

Got 'em both mate ;) Think his 2nd is nowhere near as good as his 1st, but still a good CD.

I can't wait for that one - cracking band!

the new turin brakes single was released last week for one week only which meant it got no airplay, a charting of no.22 and has since been deleted!! How stupid is that? It was a really, really good song as well (Long Distance). Looking at their website it doesn't look like the album is out for a good while yet.

I've heard people say autochangers don't deliver as much as a single in dash deck. I looked at one to go with my Sony and it was flimsy as hell, virtually all made out of thin plastic so I can believe it.

Yeah, Jo Wiley kept playing it on Radio 1 and I absolutely loved it. They have such a distinctive sound I knew it was them within the first 8 bars! Their first CD is absolutely superb. Perhaps a Turin Brakes vs Coldplay battle of the bands is due.. á la Blur vs Oasis :D

I will pick up the optimist LP this week as I never got round to getting it.

As for battle of the bands they would blow coldplay out of the water, I listened to their first album last night and switched off halfway through (depressing) so I could put Starsailor on instead. Now that is an album. They are working with the legendary Phil Spector in London at the mo on new material, that should be amazing!

    You've gotta get TB's first CD - it's such a corker.

I do like Starsailor as well. Picked up their CD during a Tesco promotion for £6 - couldn't believe my luck!

Still rate Coldplay higher than both though. I like "depressing" - it has more feeling and is more true to life ;) But then I am a huge Smiths and Morrissey fan as well ;) :D

I've just ordered David Gray's Lost Songs for about £4 from www.absound.ca

I have resisted buying anything else prior to White Ladder because he seems to sing with a fake celtic accent that just sounds plain silly.

    SG.

I've never seen a bloke more committed to getting DVD's & CD's a couple of pence/ pounds cheaper than anyone else...

    £6 @ Tesco's

£7.87 (or something like that ) @ CD Wow.

You r 2 be congratulated on your wise wallet watching.

    Adzman.

That refers to other CDs/DVDs I have purchased. In particular, Starsailor was £6 @ Tesco's a while back.
