I had the idea for the shot I wanted to achieve in my head almost as soon as the theme was announced, trying to get my daughter to spare me 30mins of her busy social life, and waiting for some decent sunlight/weather, meant I only managed this on Sunday, it wasn't as sunny as I would of liked but hopefully it's backlit enough to fit the theme as it's all I'm going to have time to get before compo closes :(

Nice pic, good entry. Being picky it looks slightly flat to me, and I do wonder if your daughter's too far to the left. Good entry though and on the whole I really like it.

Sorry but not working that well for me - keep getting pulled away from the girl by the blown out sky....

I like the composition and the deep, in thought pose but as previousley said the blown out Sky is distracting

Im the opposite; i dont mind the blown out sky, it meets the theme ( being backlit.) I feel you daughter should fill the frame, not be standing at the side. If it were me i would of gone for a backlit portrait

Beautiful portrait. And the light is really nice. I don't mind the sky. If it was my shot, I probably would've tried to rescue it a little bit, or shot the photo differently to start of with. But we all have different tastes and in this case it's more a question of taste than a critical technical error, imo.
