Does anyone know if it's possible to pick up the date from a recording while it's being edited on a pc using any particular editing software. I'd like the option of keeping track of what date the recordings happened and optionally display it somewhere in my timeline ready to be displayed in my final output.

    Thanks in advance.

The date code is in the video data, but consumer editing software don't seem to display it! I don't know if any professional packages keep it.

When capturing DV footage in Premier it's possible to get the date and time appended to the file notes automatically, but I usually don't bother, so haven't the foggiest how I used to do it.:(
