Was 15k mentioned at some Point? Or am i just making it up? Tis my bedtime
£17400 inc vat and calibration from Genesis.
I assume the Datasat's lack of Dolby TrueHD support somehow stems from licensing a competitors audio format, is this likely to be implemented anytime soon as it is something of a glaring omission for a modern processor?
I believe it's getting implemented in the next month or so. As I was told.
Hope we are nicely rested mate.
The license has been sorted and the cards should be ready for distribution within the next month. Apparently they just slot straight in the back no tinkering required and it is a free upgrade ( and so it should be at £14500 + the MP's expenses tax)
Hi I thought the dolby true HD decoder is in fact already resident in one of the DSP's internal to the RS20i. I imagine what is needed is dolby's blessing and control firmware that would enable it on.
Let me clear this up now...
The Dolby HD codecs will be made available via plug in hardware module. This will just slot in to one of the expansion bays on the back of the RS20i. There are no ports or anything on the card and the only user input needed might be to do a power cycle once the automated firmware update has taken place.
The new module is fully licensed by Dolby and will become available by mid to August. Your dealer will be expected to personally deliver and install the card for you and the card will of course be supplied without charge to early adopters. The short term workaround is to decode Dolby HD codecs to PCM in the player.
Neil, do you know if Datasat are likely to offer Neo X on the RS20i?
I have just got back from Datasat in London and met all the guys ( what an awesome place) nothing was mentioned but after talking with the guys if there is a demand for it then it will be implemented for sure.
Sorry guys my post has got a bit messed up but the info is there. It's been a loooong tiring day but exciting
It looks like a black fascia is going to be added to the line up by Datasat after our suggestions to the guys today.
Datasat are going to add a range of Amps manufactured by the Mark Levinson camp
Which I think shows there commitment to high end audiophile quality
Manufactured by ATI who do the physical manufacturing for many high end companies....
Can you tease us with any other tidbits from the day?
Andy, I can see me having to bring your old crm4 back to yours so we can do the side by side. If I keep the trinnov I'll bring that also as it so incredibly quick to get everything setup and calibrated with the trinnov.
That seems logical considering Datasat already employ this in their/Barco's AP24 unit.
It looks like Phil Hinton is at Datasat tomorrow. I can't wait to see what he thinks
I hope he takes his video camera with him
That would be good, I know I was like a kid in a sweet shop when I was there.
Look forward to seeing what he thinks of the place, company.
I certainly can not wait to get to look around. And il be in touch Neil, just some pressing work came up that needs attending to.
I have just had a call from Daniel at Datasat.
It is official they will be implementing DTS NeoX
No news of the time scale as yet. Dolby HD cards should be ready in about 10 to 12 weeks.
It's good to hear Datasat is delivering on the promise the RS20i has - with NeoX now in the pipeline I may have to start considering wide/height speakers (and assuming I can somehow convince the wife that they are needed).
I feel this is just the beginning there was talk of expanding Dirac to 16 channels and also output to 24 or possibly even 32 Chanel .
The production facia colour has been decided and that will be silver and black making the indigo one special order along with other custom colours of your choice.
