What Andy is being too shy to say is that he is the first dealer in the UK to have an RS20i on demo.

Finally some very close to AV Forums is lucky enough to have just received the very first retail unit supplied in the UK. That is part of a very exciting high end cinema project that is going to be detailed in full for the pleasure of AV Forums readers. That system is going to be to die for!

If anyone has questions then please add them here and I'll do my best to answer.

You are both north of the Watford gap, which make you northerners.

Think I may need a datasat so us southern fairies can come and listen without having to travel so far...... Haha

Nick, think on, the air is much clearer here up North, this improves stereo imagery, which doesn't cost us a penny!! :)

    Nick

Andy had similar thoughts to you about why to for next but I laid it out for him this way...

The preamp stages of the ADA and DataSat have a very similar quality - refined and smooth without straying anywhere you would call warm or dry sounding. On top you have the great dynamics and steering. Ignoring Dirac for a second I would find it very hard to choose between a rhapsody or an RS20i.

As Andy has heard though, the improvements in clarity and imaging with the Dirac are pretty stunning even in our purpose built, fully acoustically designed theatre and with speakers that have a response which is flatter than a very flat thing!

As a 2d eq the Dirac tools really excel.

The only area where Trinnov moves ahead is the 3d remap processing but to get the very best of this you need to rethink your speaker placement and number. If you want to add speakers and throw out traditional thinking then the Trinnov is the state of the art. For the great majority though the DataSat is where the cost/performance ratio is best placed.

Wull, I have jokes about electricity coming to mind.... But hey, let's stick to topic.

Cheer Neil, it looks like I'll def have to spend a day up at Andy's when he is all setup so I can hear the datasat against the rhapsody in the same room.

But I must say I am thoroughly enjoying this rhapsody.

    I`m very jealous Andy

How does this connect to the power amps, is it a DB25 - XLR audio cable or something like that ?

Although it`s a bit out of my league, I`d love to see it in action or attend a "get together". I can see another visit on the cards Andy.

I`m looking forward to hearing your thoughts and how it stacks-up against the Rhapsody.

Wow, some people are making some very good purchases to future proof their ht installs.

I have been in conveerstaion with Nilo at Dirac about implementing Dirac with the crm4 and it's all very possible. So I am super excited to say ill be playing with Dirac shortly as well.

Then I can get an idea of how the crm4 with dirac live sounds incomparison to the datasat with built in datasat. But the thing I like about the dirac live suite is that I can keep it all in the digital domain. No adc / dsp / dac multiples to deal with like normal external room eq units. But this is for another thread.

Dirac is a room correction algorithm. This is what makes the datasat so attractive right now. That and it's other host of features.

Interesting, so will this be a stand alone type unit like the Audyssey pro?

Well Dirac is like audyssey in that they liscense their algorithm out to various high end audio manufactures. Naim etc. also car audio like b&w.

But as it stands you cannot buy a seperate room eq unit. For my purpose I'll be buying it for a pc. So kind of making my own room eq unit if you like. But that has a built in blu ray player.

As said, I'll take this over to my thread in the gallery. I do not want to clutter up this thread with what potentially could be an abolute waste of time or a real winner.

A few other changes............ blimey you`ve been busy !

BTW, I`ve not forgotten about your little disc project. I`ve had a technical catastrophy so I`m only about a quarter of the way through it.

All good things.................. as they say.

The Bryston SP3 seems overpriced compared to this. And no I haven't bought one!

Hi Dave I hope your catastrophe is not an expensive one ( not good if it interferes with a mans AV upgraded plans :) ) . The big change electronic wise is the Datasat, but since your last visit we have moved all the electronics out of the cinema into the adjoining room and using the iPad with two way feed back for control. That is one very good feature with the Datasat, no messing with RS232 it is straight on to the network
by downloading an app plus if we have a problem all the settings can be accessed and changed by the guys at genesis a pretty cool feature for a man who likes the odd shandy or two. The next upgrade is a crazy one, 2 more subs at the rear of the room, not to get more bass ( I think we are close to the Death zone at the mo) the Datasat has the ability to EQ 4 subs individually rather than treating them as one so we may as well take advantage of the fact and see what can be achieved. At some point in the future we may see what can be done with the extra output Channels
16 to play with less 4 used by the subs, so quite exciting times at the moment but very busy. No problem with the disc great things come to the man who waits as they say, and It would be nice if you could bring it in person rather than post it so you can give me your opinion on the changes we have made over a coffee or 3.
    Kind regards Andy

I think the ADA rhapsody is better than the Bryston with movie and a very close call with music . What can be achieved with Datasat and Dirac I am confident will put it in a league above
    for sure.

No I don't own a SP3 and just want to make it clear I am not disrespecting it in any way because it is a TOP
Product. The short time I spent with it was with a different speaker system and different listening
conditions so my opinion is based on that. I think the
ADA I felt has a more up front attack presentation about it that I like. At some point it would be nice to get all the top end processor's together in one room for a shoot out. Until then we can only make our assessments on the way they are presented.
    Regards Andy
