Please don't remind me of this film- my underwear hasn't been the same since. My girlfriend is well into these films, I'm not and it scared the bejeezus out of me.

Yes great film. If you have not, try to watch the 'ju-on' (the grudge). Scary!.

In a packed cinema full of people willing to be scared Juon was absolutely terrifying, possibly the scariest film I have ever seen:eek: bought the 2-disc Korean DTS pack and watched it at home and it had nowhere near the same impact.:(

I would of though it was the opposite, i find watching horror films on my own late at night far scarier than watching with about 100 people sitting around you in a cinema!.

I saw Dark Water at home and found it pretty scarey. Certainly a very atmospheric film.

I then saw it at the cinema in Didsbury and found it slightly less effective.

    A cracking film though! :)

Thought myself it was'nt as good as the ring but a few good scenes and decent atmosphere. The lift scenes were tops.

Normally you'd be right but this was an audience of hardcore horror fans dying for a good scare, also (and this might sound strange) but it was an old 50s style picturehouse which was a slightly more spooky setting than my living room. Ju-on is all about the imagery and the bigger screen brings that across better... so if you've got a PJ at home get ready to kak yourself.:smashin:

Ah - but then what if those 100 people slowly turned around and looked at you, but where their eyes should be was just blackness, then......

I'm sure I saw something like that in a movie once:D

    yep

Utterly painful to watch in places and genuinely creepy but also funny and warm in places. And it's
Kiri, kiri, kiri, kiri which means deeper, deeper, deeper, deeper

    most certainly

Well you never know - if it turns out as good a remake as The Ring, we may not have too much to complain about:D

Not seen the yank version , big fan of the original, my point is that i cant beleive hollywood have completely run out of ideas, esp for horror movies, that they have to remake a film barely a year after i went to see it in the cinema in Covent Garden!! Last summer.

Too quick a turnaround and also how many potenially good films are they shelving for the quick fix?

    Hi Ken,

No, this is the first time with Layoyo (I don't count CD-Wow as a HK supplier). I have ordered Underworld & Dark Water, which with delivery come to under £14. As I usually don't buy DVD's until they are less than £10 each and certainly not those I'm unsure of, this is somewhat of a bargain - if all goes well.

I don't think amreica has run out of ideas , its just too lazy to think of new ones for itself.
take for example , nikita, ring hugely successful in their own countries I think america just loses the plot a bit when they believe they can do it better by throwing bigger budgets at them.
Japan has such a surreal outlook that while some of their films may be slightly cheap looking and have perplexing endings they are priceless e.g ichi the killer, battle royale and versus. I think battle royale was remade by the Us wasn't it.
No doubt the others will be remade as well, personally I prefer the raw originals
