Dark Shadows arrives on Blu-ray in October

Tim Burton's film version of the ‘popular' 1970s TV show makes its way onto high definition disc

Yes we'd never heard of Dark Shadows either but apparently it was a very popular TV show in the States during the late 60s and early 70s. Tim Burton's film adaptation stars Johnny Depp as Barnabus Collins, a vampire with family issues. The impressive cast also includes Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter (obviously), the impossibly hot Eva Green, Jackie Earl Haley (Watchmen), Chloe Grace Moretz (Hugo, Kick Ass), Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting) and Christopher Lee (everything). The film wasn't as successful as hoped at the cinema, especially coming off the back of the enormous success of Burton's Alice in Wonderland, but perhaps it will find an audience on disc.

The plot of Burton's film revolves around Barnabas Collins, a member of the founding family of Collinsport, Maine, who is turned into a vampire and buried alive by his nemesis, Angelique Bouchard - a powerful witch. When he finally escapes 200 years later, Barnabas sets about to reclaim his family's legacy and destroy the witch who has taken over the town.

The Blu-ray and DVD are released on the 15th of October.
