I've got a 50" Sony rear projector - about 6 yr old. The picture is very dark for daytime viewing. I've only had it 2 years, but I don't think it was this dark before. I can turn the brightness right up, which is better but still dark for daylight viewing. I spoke to a Sony engineer who told me the picture's brighter on the newer TVs as they're different technology. He didn't recommend a bulb, saying they don't dim, just fail with age. Does anyone know if a new bulb or something would improve things? I've been very pleased with the pictue quality(better than Plasmas I've seen) it's just poor for daytime viewing.
