Just bought a Sony 55XE9005. Ultimately paid £1080 for it after a bit of post purchase price beating. Generally very impressed with the TV however the corners are a little dark and it is bugging me. Is this normal on a good mid range TV? Do you think it is acceptable?

If it's not then the screen should be evenly lit all over.

My 75XD9405 has dark corners and you barely notice it apart from when the Sky advert comes on. Looks acceptable to me.

It's also common on full array panels.

The last couple of years even some full array panels suffer from dark corners, less so than edge lit but it's still noticeable on white scenes.

My 65XE9305 has ever-so-slight darkening on the edges, something I was fully aware of and expecting before buying the TV, as every review I read/saw mentioned it, and I seldom notice it (can only be seen under certain conditions).
Edge darkening is an LCD characteristic, so stop worrying and just enjoy your TV.

This amount of vignetting is unacceptable. I have mostly seen this on Sony TVs.
