Was just reading on the R2-Project that Dark Angel is to be released on DVD later this year. I have never watched it - I missed the first few episodes on Sky so never bothered watching it. I have heard good things about it though. What are people's opninions? Any good?

    Cheers.

I didn't like it. I thought it was a bit dumb. My little bro loved it though.

The first series wasn't bad and it's worth watching for "Max" herself.

As with many programmes of this type the writers had run out of ideas by the time of the second series and it quickly went downhill

Sorry to disappoint Dark Angel fans but the shows been cancelled
in the US. Instead its been replaced by Joss Whedons (creator of
Buffy - for those who didn't know) new sci fi show "Firefly". Unless
another US network takes it on there will be no series 3.

Damn, I thought you meant the film "Dark Angel" also known as "I Come In Peace", with the multi talented thespian, Dolph Lungren.

Dark angel TV series was very dull. Watched the first 6 or so episodes, and lost interest, the story just never got going, and in the end i didn't give a damn about any of the characters...

channel 5 is only a few episodes in but apart from Max herself it doesn't look as though it has much going for it.

If you like Jennifer Alba (aka Max) watch Idle Hands, a terrible/brilliant horror comedy which also stars Seth Green. Very silly but a great post-pub film.

Great line from Dolph who replies to the Alien's poorly thought out defence of "I come in peace"

"And you GO in pieces!" :D

I find Dark Angel great idea with rather poor implementation. Funny with such a high budget :(

Does any one know why/how the Region 2 version is widescreen?

The region 1 and Japanese version (whatever region that is) are 4:3 for season 1 and channel 5 showed season 1 in 4:3 too.

I'm starting to think that they may have butchered the 4:3 version to make a widescreen version for the UK, as in there is actually less visible in the widescreen version than in the 4:3.

I don't know how I'm going to find out. If this is the case I'll get the region 1 version, it's cheaper apart from anything else.

    I noticed something else.

Looking at Amazon UK they have runtime as 919 minutes for the region 2 version. That isn't enough to cover the pilot at 86 minutes plus 20 x 44 minutes episodes (total of 966) never mind the interviews as well. The region 1 at play is specified at 999 minutes.

The Amazon running time will just be a typo.

As for the region one in 4:3 and the region two in 16:9 - The show will have been filmed in 16:9 so the UK version will not be cut down.

Are you sure that the region one is in 4:3? Maybe there is not so much of a demand for it in the USA, but I am surprised if this is true.

I just saw last two episodes of the series. They really spoiled great idea with this second series, especially its last part.
The funniest is how Cameron did director work on last episode. IMHO very bad!
good it is all over now!

Yes - it is 4:3 in region 1. I was just in NY last week and picked up a copy of season 1 for $50 and now I'm just gutted that it's 4:3 and not 16:9  Are you sure that they film it in 16:9??

Looks like my region 1 copy will be going on eBay and I'll have to order the region 2 set from Amazon...

The R2 is 16:9 but that doesn't justify the asking price because the minimal extras are crap (interviews only).

Yes, it was released on R2: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...41090/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2_2/202-4350050-8967053

I just happened to be in the US and got the R1 version for a good price only to find out that it's in cr@ppy 4:3
