Just removed the grill from my surround speaker and found the cone damaged. No tear or rip but obviously not right.

Hadn't heard it go, but will need to run it on its own to see how bad it is.

It hasn't been poked or dropped to my knowledge. Grills always on.

Can these just go over time? Over driven?

That's a strange one if you're sure there was no impact damage. Is it above a heat source? like a radiator of sorts.

That looks like a Kef uni q driver.
I had an old pair of Q35.2's do that for no apparent reason, not in sunlight or anywhere near a heat source. I think the plastic cone just warps over time.

That's a Monitor Audio driver. When cones are out of shape like that, they've usually been overdriven to the point where the driver can't cope with the excursion, and end up buckling.

Obvious question.
Could someone else have done this, either fiddling around or by accident, and just popped the cover back on, said nothing and hoped you'd never notice?

Party guest?
Visiting friends with kids in the house?
