I'm over in Texas from Saturday for around 10 days, and whilst my family over there will be good guides for the Fort Worth area, not so much around Dallas.

We are planning to take a couple of days down in Austin, and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for BBQ, sights and things to do with 3 adults and 2 kids (7 & 11).

Thanks in advance

Sorry I can't help but I look forward to reading your thoughts on the above places when you return as hopefully I will be travelling there next year. I did Houston/Galveston/New Orleans last year and that was fantastic. Enjoy.

I got some work colleagues in Austin, I'll give them a shout and let you know.

For the family fun:

Kayaking/Canoeing/Rowing at Lady Bird Lake (Town Lake)

For the adults there is the famous 6th street
The most famous, well known street in Austin. 6th street (formerly known as Pecan Street) serves as Austin’s heart of entertainment and nightlife scene.
The old historical buildings are now used as bars, music venues, cafes, art galleries, etc. If you want to experience Austin’s crazy nightlife, 6th street is the place to go.
