Hope someone out there can help but have just brought this back from the UK to record Sky TV in Spain. I am trying to connect Sky box via the scart socket. It is viewable on the TV when the freeview box is in standby mode but as soon as you switch the box on it defaults to the scanning mode. Obviously it cannot find any digital channels because there is no RGF plugged in just the scart socket which it doesn´t seem to provide an option to switch to AV on the remote. I cannot set the time or date as I presume this somehow comes from the initial scan sequence. Is there any way round it or have I brought a white elephant to Spain!

The Daewoo DSD9520 is a PVR and you cannot record from an external source (such as a Sky receiver) to any PVR

Presumably an ecxeption if the external source provides RF Output.

On reflection, the RF out signal will be analogue, so if the PVR only has digital tuner it won't see it.

¿Usted tiene TV terrestre digital en España?

    From Wikipedia

    Terrestrial

The development of digital terrestrial television was very similar to the failure of ITV Digital in the United Kingdom. Digital terrestrial television was introduced in the country by the pay per view platform Quiero Television. In May 2002, state wide operators were required to start broadcasting in DVB-T. Yet, Quiero TV ceased transmissions in 2002 after a commercial failure. Unlike the UK, the three and half multiplexes left by the platform were not reassigned to other operators, and so 5 channels were squashed into a single multiplex.

On November 30, 2005, Digital Terrestrial Television was relaunched as a free service with 20 channels and 14 radio stations, along with 23 regional and local language channels in their respective areas. Currently about 80% of the population can receive TDT, and this figure is expected to reach 90% by the end of 2008. The channels are broadcasted simultaneously with the analog signal and each multiplex has a minimum of 4 channels each. Televisió de Catalunya - TVC is using spare bandwidth in its own digital multiplex to broadcast a test HD stream.

So IIUC he can use his new box?

No surprise Quiero TV failed - too small a market.

Soy muy feliz para usted (I'm very happy for you)
but enough of the Spanish lessons:lesson: otherwise these posts will be deleted I fear

AFAIK the Spanish transmissions should be received on the Daewoo box.
Not so sure about the EPG functions though.
I suppose the only way is to connect a suitable aerial and try it
