Basic 21" tv
Have a look around for a Pioneer DV-360. Amazon do it in black with the region lockout fixed for exactly your budget (minus shipping).
just get him a bush ( push buttons and all ) from tesco's about £40, anything else is a waste of money,.....trust me, really easy to use
Agreed - the Pioneer DV-360 is very easy to use, plays almost anything, has RGB, has auto-NTSC/PAL switching (which most of the cheap players I've seen don't have) and looks very pretty. The only way I'd replace it was if I was upgrading to a TV with component/HDMI, requiring SACD/DVD-A or needing a recorder, none of which I am right now (although the new Pioneer recorders look very sleek, review pending.)
You could do a lot worse than the Limit 900SE from Play.com for £50
Prog scan, component, MR with hack, DVD-A and the CD side tuned by Cyrus.
It's a steal.
