A question out of curiosity really, as I doubt this makes very much difference.

Basically, I am running a Toslink connection from my Macbook Pro into my DACMagic.

I've currently set the sample rate to 48kHz, which works absolutely fine. However, if I increase the sample rate further to 88.2kHz, it seems to really struggle, dropping the audio every few seconds and the 88.2 LED on the front of the DAC starts to blink randomly. Increasing the sample rate further to 96kHz renders things useless; constant flickering with brief blips of audio coming through.

    So, what's with that?

Turns out it was a dodgy mini-toslink adaptor! Bought myself a proper toslink to toslink-mini cable and I can happily sample at 96kHz.
