DAB reception in Aberdeen area

I bought one of these last Christmas:-

Philips DA1102/05 Portable DAB Radio - DA1102/05 by: PHILIPS - www.edoxa.co.uk

but the reception is poor, somuchso that I have gone back to my old analog portable unit instead.

Are there plans to upgrade the transmitters to your knowledge, or have I just purchased a crap radio?
