Hello there, hope someone can help; ve just joined this forum and after some advice. Im looking at buying a second hand DAB Hi fi system thats about 10 years old, Ive been looking at the TEAC DR-H300. My question is would this old DAB hi-fi be able to scan and pick up the most recent channels??

Ive read somewhere that older DAB systems can get some stations, but not some recent ones cause they are on a different wavelength (or whatever). Is this true ??

Thanks a million for any answers

It might be it gets DAB but not DAB+. DAB+ uses a smarter compression system. Essentially it means you might miss out on some radio stations.

But the number of stations broadcasting in DAB+ is tiny & there are no plans for wholesale switching.

Is the dab sound quality better say than tunein internet radio????
Or would the freeview radio stations be better via tv????
I used to like the V tuner app on samsung tv but it is not currently working
(Sorry for the thread intrusion but its actually about DAB as I was toying with the idea ofgetting a tuner)

Curious how much money you have to spend?

There are Tuners that have DAB and DAB+.

Also, are you looking for a small tabletop portable Radio, a self-contained device, or are you looking for a Tuner to add to an existing system?

Both are likely to be better than DAB.

Usually the internet radio stream will be the stereo stream provided by the broadcaster which is an improvement over DAB since most music stations on DAB are now mono. I've noticed recently that Tunein are starting to use the mono stream that is broadcast on DAB.
