    Toshiba have posted some details of their upcoming budget DVDR (with no HDD) on their website :eek:

    http://www.home-entertainment.toshiba.co.uk/consumer/home.nsf
    (and click on Recordable DVD on the left hand side)

    Feratures include:
    * DVD-RW (basic recording, archiving)
    * DVD-RAM (archiving, timeslip recording)
    * DVD-R (giveaway copies)
    * Selectable recording quality for audio & video
    * High speed dubbing
    * VideoPlus
    * PDC
    * Random Access Recording
    * Timeslip Recording: Chase TV, Pause TV
    * Simultaneous Play and Record

    I'll be interested to see how it does "High Speed Dubbing" without a HDD! I think this might be a mistake.

    For playback connections the machine looks very nice with Component out, Optical and Coaxial digital audio outputs. For recording it does look as though it may not have RGB in again (it says it only supports RGB on Scart 1 which is traditionally output). Still the specification is subject to change so change it might. RRP is £350 (from Toshiba's press release on the subject).
