I'm shopping around for a new projector, and in my research I bumped into JVCs range of D-ILA projectors. Reading about them they sound great, combining high resolution, good colour tones and no screen door effect nor rainbow. But it isn't the most mature technology. Anyone here own or sampled one? Would you recommend them over similarly priced DLPs?

DILA is more mature than DLP. It's been around a while. Branko on the forums has one. Low contrast and poor uniformity are their issues along with poor consistency of picture quality on older models. New units are much better. They have some very nce qualities and are definately worth lookng at....although getting a demo could be kind of hard....

I have a JVC Dila, a fairly old G10 clone (bargain)

William Phelps calibrated it when he was here last June, it does look superb.

There are a few people here with DILA projectors, you dont hear from them much because once you have such a great picture there is no need to be constantly asking questions about all the new models etc....

The only problems are the noise and heat, a through the wall installation is prefered or a hush box for the older models (well ventilated! )

I want one of these next : http://www.jvcpro.co.uk/item/index_html?item=DLA-HD2K so does Branko and Dan I guess :)

    Thread here about HD2K :) :

About £15766 inc VAT with scaler from forum sponsor Ivojo, probably very similar elsewhere.

( My second hand G10 clone cost $1200 US from an ebay seller , around £850 with duty + VAT etc , then calibrated for a lot of dollars - a bargain)
