D&D Online - How widely is mic/team speak

Is it possible to find groups that do not use team speak/mic. I ask this because I do not really like team speak in games as I find a lot of people/voices to be annoying. I switched it off in BF2 as due to the BF2 "dude you are so gay" type conversations. Also you get lousy background noises from badly setup mikes.

I also have really good Senheiser headphones connected to an X-Fi so I do not want to degrade my sound quality by switching to a headset. I have a desk mic but it is not always that practical.

I am just concerned it will take away from the ambiance of the game. My finger is on the buy button so please let me know.

its a swings and roundabouts thing ..... and it depends on how serious you take your games , who you play with and what you want to get out of it.

Mic / TS etc are a pain when playing with people you don't know and are 13 yrs old with attitude problems.

.... however, playing with a group / server with decent regs on chat is superb
- you get to chat to mates in down time - and have split second uptodate info / help with a good group in combat.

I tend to use the built in CS voice comms on publics and simply use the 'mute' on annoying people ... then use TS etc for other games with guild mates.

Nothing worse that having to type ' help I am about to die can you turn around !!!! '

.... or "Stop you are just about to step on a landmine !!!"

for DDO at the moment it's mixed. You have people who don't use it at all, some who hear, but don't speak and others the full thing. Can be tricky at times if everyone talking and you're not, but it's not the end of the world.

Also some people are still not using the inbuilt system and sticking with teamspeak so it's a mixed bag.

The tough bit is for the rogue telling people fast enough about traps. I think people just wish there were macros for saying "Stop Trap!"

Teamspeak is very much about discaplin.

The ability to tell yourself to **** is vital. As you said, conversations about what people had for dinner last night is not really important compared to trying to hear some one say "Look out for trap x!!!!".

In Eve-Online, its vital to use TS in order to be any good at PvP.
