    Hi folks
I was thinking about my next upgrade to add this amp for stereo duties (equipment in my sig) does anybody have this amp and can you connect it up so you dont have to keep altering the volume when changing from stereo to av use.
Also the amp is just the right size to fit under the tv anything bigger is a no no.
    Thanks in advance Gonzo.:)
OOPS please move to amplifiers and receivers thanks.

    Gonzo,

I have one of these and it is a fantastic amp. Got it connected to my Denon 3803 (front pre-amp out connected to tuner input of the Cyrus). CD player is connected directly to the Cyrus and front speaker cables are also connected directly to the Cyrus.

When using the system for AV it is easy to set the correct volume as the volume control is surrounded by LEDs so it's not a problem to see where the control should be left (for finer control the volume control is of the type that has soft clicks as it is turned - there are about 3-4 clicks between each LED).

    Hope this helps

    Hi TeeTee
Thanks that is what i wanted to know. The cyrus 8 is rated at 70 watts does this seem like a true output also do you know if you can get the amp cheaper than 800 notes (where from).
    Thanks Gonzo.:)

    Nice amp that!:smashin:

Older Cyrus amps were not exactly known for thier current capability.
Looks like the 8 is a wolf in sheeps clothing

Sorry for the late reply - been away.

I would say the 70 watt output is a conservative figure - it drives my speakers with ease, never sounding as if it's running out of 'puff'.

I paid £800 and have never known Cyrus stuff to be discounted, but you may a get a deal on some extras such as speaker cable or interconnects thrown in for free. There is always ex-dem or second hand, but the C8 maybe a bit too new for that.

    Cheers

FYI it is possible to configure the Cyrus 8 so it performs as a power amp when used with an AV amp/procesor.

To do this simply press the power and AV buttons TOGETHER. The volume control then moves to 2 o'clock & does so every time the AV input is selected. This is only cancelled when the amp is switched off at the mains.

You can then set your AV amp/processor levels for this.

    Hope this helps.
