Listened to the Cyrus CD8x and it was excellent. However, can anyone suggest what else, up to £1000, do I listen to for comparison?

    My system consists of;

    Audiolab 8000C Preamp
Exposure 2010 Power amps (x2, monoblocked)
    Mordaunt Short 25i pearls

    Kind Regards, AnilS.

    Hi,
At that price point the Cyrus is pretty much ahead of alot of competition but why not look at the Roksan Caspian CD Spinner or seeing that you already own the Exposure Power amps why not try one of there CD Players.

    Cheers
    John

    Thanks for the comments John.

I have just ordered the Exposures and await delivery shortly. I've heard the Roksan has a "weighty" sound but is it detailed, like the Cyrus?

I'll have to give it a whirl then  .

I would give the Musical Fidelity Xray V3 (£8-900)a go or the A5 (which can be bought for around £1300 if you look in the right places!).

I have the V3 and find it very good!

Another contender is the Arcam FMJ CD33T which is a cracking machine.

Many thanks to you all. I would prefer a full width cdp like the Arcam :) .

I'll reaudition and pop to a couple of dealers nearby to those pieces of kit, but the CD8x has set the, very high, benchmark.

    Thanks, AnilS.

If you want the full width - buy a PSX-R ;)

    Is that a top loader?

The Cyrus CD8x, will fantastic sounding, seems fiddly to operatewhen the CD drawer comes out, it hides the close button beneath. Great design.

The Arcam Diva CD 192 sounds excellent & very detailed. I've recently been demoing kit & the Arcam was the sweetest sound I found for under £1000. I am pairing it with an Exposure 3010 integrated amp & they sound really great together.

It is a bit fiddly. I have the CD8 and have the same problem. The tray comes out quite far too which makes it worse. Oh well at least it sounds sublime!
