CD Projekt RED were spotted looking for new recruits to work on an “entirely new and different” RPG recently. A list of job roles next to an icon of a gun was all we had to go on, until now. Blue’s News have a teaser image trailing a big reveal at CD Projekt RED’s summer conference tomorrow. It will be live streamed on CD Projekt’s Facebook page and The Witcher site at 5pm GMT / 10am PST / 1pm EST.

The teaser image has a powerful whiff of William Gibson to it. There’s a backdrop of neon billboards, a mohican, a leather jacket, a futuristic handgun and a handy piece of skull-tech. Nothing says ‘streetwise dystopian future’ like a punk with a heads up display. Take a look.

A futuristic RPG from the developers of The Witcher and The Witcher 2, now wouldn’t that be a fine thing?

CD Projekt has just announced details of its brand new ‘AAA’ RPG at it’s latest summer press conference.

The new IP is to be created by a second team, who had previously worked on the original Witcher and as well as the latest game in the series.

Cyberpunk is set in a futuristic world with modern technology. The world is based on a cult classic Cyberpunk 2020 RPG system, by Mike Pondsmith.

CD Projekt says that it’ll be a gripping ‘mature’ RPG based on the pen & paper system, with lots of character classes, lots of weapons.

They say also add that this will set a ‘new standard’ in the genre, thanks to it’s high production value’s and cutting edge graphics
.

Was that the big announcement they called the press conference for?

Sounds good tho, will keep an eye onthis.

A proper Cyberpunk game, never been a good one since Shadowrun on the SNES IMO. Could be awesome.

CD Projekt RED & GOG.com Special Event starts in 3 hours! The conference will be streamed live on The Witcher fanpage on facebook (Ustream tab). If you don't have a facebook account, the conference will also be streamed here and on GOG.com. Don't forget to tune in at 18:00 GMT and watch the Special Event LIVE!

CyberPunk 2077 is the title and its a sandbox game ;)

CD Projekt RED just announced their new project, and it's going to stir a lot of emotion in the old-school RPG crowd. The Witcher 2 dev's next game will be Cyberpunk, based on the pen-and-paper RPG of the same name.

Cyberpunk is a product of CD Projekt RED's “second team,” and they promise the same level of quality that we've come to expect from their RPGs.

The upcoming RPG will have a non-linear story with different character classes. There will also be tons of weapons, upgrades, and “cool, high-tech toys.” It was also mentioned that Cyberpunk‘s pen-and-paper roots will play into the game's mechanics.

Cyberpunk will be running on the REDengine, the same engine used in The Witcher 2, and CD Projekt RED promises cutting-edge graphics with their new title.

Below are two new images from the conference that show off what Cyberpunk‘s art style.

No release date was given, but I'm sure we can expect more info on Cyberpunk in the coming months.

The Witcher studio CD Projekt Red could release a trailer for its futuristic RPG, Cyberpunk 2077 as soon as next week.

PR Tom Ohle posted the news on Twitter, telling followers: "Watching Cyberpunk 2077 trailer again. And again. Aaaaand again. And it's not even the final one."
He later said the finished trailer would be released "next weekish."

CDPR describes Cyberpunk 2077 as a "multi-thread, nonlinear story designed for mature players", with a sandbox structure that'll offer "freedom of action and diversity in gameplay".

According to its story blurb, 2077 presents a "dark future" in which "advanced technologies have become both the salvation and the curse of humanity". Players will be set loose in Night City, a "sprawling metropolis", and its surrounding areas.
