Is anyone using the Room software across a Cambridge CXN.
Currently using CXN running from NAS with Cambridge app on phone as remote control. This software is very long winded and the app hard work running through my complete FLAC file collection alphabetically to find music to play. There must be a simpler solution, even its using a Mac book as remote.
      What are you using ?
Looking at Roon but they want credit card details for the trial period up front. Is Room worth it ?

Only if you have no hi-res files in your FLAC file collection. The only way to officially connect the Cambridge CXN to the Roon Server is by AirPlay, which only streams at the lossless CD quality resolution of 16bit/44.1kHz.

What make/model of NAS are you using?

It may be possible to run the BubbleUPnP Server helper software on your NAS, which would give you the ability to control the CXN with an OpenHome Controller, like the Linn Kazoo app.

Excellent. Looks like you should be able to install the BubbleUPnP Server on the QNAP TS-251 NAS. Also, for intelligent music library browsing, you may as well install the music file dedicated UPnP/DLNA media server MinimServer on the QNAP too:
QNAP App Center (TS-251) - Download MinimServer

      http://minimserver.com/features.html

Both MinimServer and BubbleUPnP Server require the Java Runtime Environment to also be installed on the QNAP. However, as MinimServer can be installed from the QNAP App Center and will automatically install the JRE, you may as well do that first, before manually installing the BubbleUPnP Server (which is not available from the App Center, so requires a manual JRE install otherwise):
      BubbleUPnP Server - QNAP install

scol78 - I'm interested in the Cambridge CXN v2 and have read about how poor the Cambridge Connect app is. I was wondering if MinimServer and BubbleUPnP worked for you?

      Thanks

The CXN is great bit of kit.I have used minim server and bubble but for some reason when transfering certain Flac files to my NAS ,they are missing or not in any sort of order.I always revert back to using the CA app.It is pretty basic but every file is always their, with metadata and in alphabetical order.Ive never had any problems at all.
I have a portable WD HD plugged in the back of the Streamer and the app works very fast this way, finding and playing tracks etc. With the NAS it almost has to think about what its doing. My HD is like a back up of a back up if you know what I mean.
CA app is pretty basic but it does the job

Thanks for the reply! my interest in MinimServer and BubbleUPnP was due to reports that CA Connect has a poor implementation of Tidal built in. I was hoping to bypass CA Connect altogether. On another another topic - do you stream the BBC 320 kbs streams and if so how's the quality?
