hi all any1 know how to cut a 7gig wmv file in half will wmv encoder do it?
you will want to use the app called 'wmv file editor' that installs in the utilities folder with the windows media encoder installation.
thanks for that
You could also try Total Commander (horrible interface though) which will split any file into files of the size/s of your choosing. When split simply rename the file extension to match the original and it may still play ok. Certyainly does for .ts files.
or hjsplit as well should be able to do it (freeware)
I think you're going to have trouble splitting it into 2 watchable files, especially as it's a Hi-Def movie. The WMV filetype is notoriously difficult to play around with. If it's just for storage then HJSPLIT, as mentioned above, will do the job. I used this for a film (Minority Report I think) & it it re-joined without a problem.
