Any thoughts on the best option?

I was recently notified by royal mail that they had a package for me with a customs charge.

It turned out the amount on front of package showed in GB pounds rather than euros.

Should I pay charge and chase customs or retailer for refund or should I let royal mail send back and re-order

    Henry:confused:

I don't think it matters whether the value is written in pounds euros or roman coins - you will still be liable to pay tax on it.

I don't think you have any choice but to pay the tax - whoever you bought it off will no doubt have covered themselves (in the smallprint) against such a situation.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear, value of dvd was only £9. On front of package it should have read price in CAN$ but mistakenly was in GB£ hence original post

Hmm, difficult situation. Maybe you should contact whoever you ordered it from and see what they say? It is their mistake after all so ask them what they are gonna do about it!

    Good Luck

You are only supposed to pay customs charges if the item goes over £18.

But note that the cost of shipping will be added to the price of the item before the tax is calculated!
