I didn't like the black box look either. I came across a thread on here which suggested "Fablon". So I went to B&Q and bought a roll of "cherry" Fablon....stuck it on and looks great!

Is it just the photo or is it starting to peal off on the top back left corner?

Hey Adam. AngelEyes....should be Eagle Eyes !!:D Errrrm.....its actually a dent :(on the top corner.

When I tried the fablon....it was really a kind of test, to see if it would look OK. If I'd known it would have turned out as good as it did....I'd have taken the time to sand down and fill the dent beforehand!!

Point is.....IMO if anyone is unhappy with the big black box look.....using fablon is a decent enough option. I'd be reluctant to do it on a new£400 sub though! ;)

Ooops, me and my big mouth! Appart from that it does look very good though, I just wondered if the adhesive was to blame but it seems not which is good news for anyone wishing to give it a go. :smashin:

Top Tip if your going to "Fablon the Sub"

Slowly, slowly apply per the instructuions..... and use a clean cloth to smooth it on as you go. A second pair of hands helps to take the backing paper away. :smashin:

Just finished doing top and sides....... looks the dog's wagglers!!!

Port hole was fiddley, but other than that laid easier than expected. Used B&Q mahogany fablon as recommended, a meter rule to put the pressure on and cut with a surgeons scalpel.

Who needs Blue Peter presenter when you have your girlfriends dad :suicide:

    Will post pictures once finished!!
